The second week that I was in California I spent with my son Ricky, that lives in Anaheim. I love that week also. We went to the beach, to Gramma Anna's, the Getty Museum, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in L.A. He took me to Disneyland USA Street. I think that is the name of it, anyway the fireworks were fabulous. Then....he took me to the Transfromer movie that just came out, cause he knows I have trouble with movies that have a lot of action and he wanted to see me jump....ha, ha, we both jumped at the same time!!! I cooked for them, he cooked for me. My children are wonderful!!!!

Getty museum from way up high! Ricky and Tyler at the Disney Concert Hall!

Me showing what a beautiful architectural structure this is..

My Summer Begins

In June of this year I headed for California immediately after school....actually half a day BEFORE school was out...I was in a bit of a hurry to get out of there. I spent one week with my sister Sharon, she lives in La Quinta, a suburb of Palm Springs. I love being with my sister and brother-in-law Don. Sharon and I just dinked around and did whatever pleased us. She showed me how to paint gourds while I was down there. She made one that looked like an apple for me and I painted one shaped like a pear. I was totally hooked on it. We shopped and we visited. We did water aerobics in the morning in her pool. We went to Balboa Island. To the knit shop. We just sat around and visited...did I tell you I just LOVE being with my sister :)

My daughter informed me that I should use my blog as my journal. She also told me they will bind all the entries in my blog into bookform at any time and whaala...a journal.

Here I go...some will be in the past tense until I get caught up.

It Is Here

Well the time has arrived for my beautiful husband. He will be retiring July 31st. He has worked since he was 12 years old. He went to work at that age because his Father passed away. This man has always worked so very hard. In all those years he has worked, well those that we have been married (40 years) he has not called in probably more than 5 sick days. His work ethics I have to admit are hard to live up to. He is just wonderful!
I am so happy for him. I think he is excited to just be able to work around the property and get all those things fixed, built, or putter with. It will be a long time before I will hear him say, 'I can't find anything to do.'

Regina, Rosie and Ella arrived this afternoon and we have a house full of girlies because Jaylee joined her cousins. We welcomed Regina and family with beans, fideo and taquitos. She was a very happy girl! It is going to be a very fun week. Grampa is so happy with all his little girls around him! He has already planned the 'Big Breakfast' for them tomorrow. I will be at work and miss the whole thing :)

It sounded so odd to hear Pop say, "I cannot believe this is my last winter to have to make this drive to work and winter will just not let up."
After I thought about his comment, I was so happy to realize that he no longer has to make that drive for work again unless he chooses to.
Columbia Piant will be closing its doors July 1st. It has treated us well!

Linda has successfully convinced us to create a blog.

This will help our children keep tabs on us and be able to see what kind of improvements we are doing on the old homestead.
It will also enable them to see of one of their siblings are getting more attention than the other.
